Today we hopped in the car and went to Windham to the rail trail there. It was very pretty.

At the head of the trail is the old train depot, caboose included.

On either side of the trail, the land drops down to wetlands. Very pretty, but you don't want to go riding off the side. There are no guardrails. We saw a northern black racer, a turtle and a heron.

You can see how they had to blast through the rock to cut the railway.

All along the trail there are benches you can rest at, which is nice, because one way felt a lot more uphill and the other way felt a lot more downhill and the uphill side was the way back.

You can't really see it well here, but there's a beaver dam through the woods.

Our new activity

We have made it through the winter and now that spring is here we have started riding bikes.

There is a rail trail not too far from us. It is 12 miles long. We have ridden the first three or so miles several times so this day we drove a little further down it to get a fresh perspective.

I know I shouldn't take pictures while I'm riding but I can't help it.
